Points On Tickets

As few as 12 points on your South Carolina driver's license equals a suspension. Here are some examples of violations and the points they're worth:

2 points:
Speeding 10 mph above the limit, improper lane change, defective tail light, driving 10 mph too fast for conditions, failure to dim lights

4 points:
Failure to yield, speeding more than 10 but less than 25 mph above the limit, illegal turns, illegal passing, ignoring a traffic device

6 points:
Reckless driving, passing a stopped school bus, speeding more than 25 mph above the limit

Ray Lord has been involved in traffic law since 1987. He started out as a police officer, graduating from the Criminal Justice Academy in Columbia, South Carolina, first in his class.

In 1998, Mr. Lord earned his law degree from Walter F. George School of Law, in Macon, Georgia. He distinguished himself, earning multiple honors, a ranking in Who's Who Among American Law Students and by serving as a member of the Mercer Law Review.
