"The worst thing that most people can do is to just pay the ticket without seeking the counsel of an attorney."

How Can Attorney Ray Lord Help You?

  • A lawyer can help you avoid points on your driver's record and insurance record. The impact of just paying the fine for a speeding ticket or other moving violation extends far beyond a guilty plea. You get points on your driver's record, your insurance will be raised, often to an amount that is out of proportion with your actual driving offense.
  • As a former police officer and prosecutor in this area of South Carolina, I know the language that police officers and prosecutors speak, I know the courts and I know the roads. I use this knowledge to build a strong defense case on your behalf, whether you have been charged with speeding, DUI, reckless driving or another moving violation.
  • In the vast majority of cases, I am able to get the charges dismissed or reduced. Hiring an attorney will probably save you money in the end.
  • In South Carolina, speeding and other traffic tickets are considered criminal offenses; this means that you have the right to a jury trial. Because of the backlog in the criminal justice system, the prosecutor's office is often motivated to negotiate for a dismissal or reduction in charges just to get the case moving through the system.
  • If you are from North Carolina and were going 15 miles over the speed limit and decide to just pay the ticket, your license will be suspended. A lawyer experienced in handling speeding ticket defense can protect you from this threat.
  • Attorney Lord also makes a commitment to you to handle your legal matter competently and diligently, in accordance with the highest standards of the legal profession.
